In calloused steps of gravity's indifference I embrace your flames as my blood The pointing hands I broke with falter Mark not the dreams of mine And just to think all you ever were Was an image I have yet to find You are a wound of vitality The error of my ways Now the only effigy I see Artificial expression on a pretty face A semblance of you In this air that I breathe Beneath the guise of The paper's ash And like you It feigns to be sweet A novel I read In my recent past A kiss as it glides to the dark concrete A graceful throw from my hand Nothing more than dirt at my feet I leave your image to the desolate land Curse your name Damn your face Throw yourself From this familiar place Clear my head Avoid my eyes Leave and do not Say goodbye A semblance of you In this air that I breathe Beneath the guise of The paper's ash And like you It feigns to be sweet A novel I read In my recent past Consider this the last Of the letters unsent The ink of which You shall not receive And I never understood What you meant Cause you never knew me.

Inside a house lives a young man Who sits Counting grains of sand The one he loves is not around To lend a helping hand She's not alone She has her home She gets calls on the telephone She still has sorrow She still has pain She's had her pride and hope stained And the calendar Marks three-hundred days She cannot see herself Through these eyes Mask the truths With benevolent lies All that had never come to be A mere dream That only angels can see Well he does not understand He feels his dry, Empty hand The thought of her Rest in his head Leaves him awake in bed He's well aware She is not there Did she ever really care She still has sorrow She still has pain But she is not the same And the calendar Marks three-hundred days She cannot see herself Through these eyes Mask the truths With benevolent lies All that had never come to be A mere dream That only angels can see Hello, hello The one my heart will never know She cannot see herself Through these eyes Mask the truths With benevolent lies All that had never come to be A mere dream That only angels can see Hello, hello The one my heart will never know

about

As the title of the EP suggests, I wrote these songs in my Dad's basement when I was sixteen years-old. My good friends Connor and Bobby Sharpless performed them with me in our group, The Disco Mixtape Society. It has been years since we played them together, but I have not stopped messing with the riffs during that time, practicing them every once in a while for old time's sake. As a result, I produced this recording in my own basement. The songs are re-developed to reflect how I have changed as a musician.

The lyrics of these songs do not really mean much to me anymore--melodramatic high school girl trouble--but I am still passionate about the music behind them. They were really the first two tracks that got us any attention and showed me that I could be a songwriter, and they will always mean something to me on that level. So I figured, "what better way to introduce Loiterer than to dig into its roots?"

I am working on an original full-length LP currently, but for the time being, consider this re-imagining of old work to be a teaser of what's to come.
